This is little Miles, Aliza's brother. He is Lily's best friend now. He loves to cuddle with me when we go to sleep, but he is a big confused surrounded by light and camera. He is such a lover.

My lovely little Winnie

Little Winnie joined our family earlier this year. She was paralyzed in a Miami shelter when DRSF rescued her. After her surgery and therapy she is the happiest dog ever. We love her so much. Daky, the office help

Hi, It is Peanut and I would like to introduce my friend Daky. She looks like me but a bit bigger.

Daky spends most of her days at mom's office right behind her chair leaving her a little place to sit on. Since she is "working" with my mom for a week now, she feels like her.

Daky: "ok, I need a break now"

Daky: "I HAAATE bookkeeping"

Daky: " Ok, I am out from here, I need to play with the dogs to keep my sanity" 

Doggy bath in Peanut's private dog boarding

Hi my name is Cody and I will tell you how we all get a bath today. The two wiener behind me are pretending that nothing happened.  I been a regular guest in Peanut's home since last year. Since my cousins needed a doggy hotel in the same time of my mom's travel, we all landed in Peanut's home with my buddies Ozzy and Eddy.
This morning when Peanut's mom watered the flowers, my cousine Eddy was a silly dog and started to play with the water.

Because of Eddy, we all ended up having a dog bath in the bath tub with doggy shampoo. Now we are drying ourself outside:

Peanut's mom said that we are adorable, and we love to snuggle with her.

Our Smart Peanut

Last night when we went to bed, all the dogs were in bed with us, but our little Peanut was slow getting there, and Scooter (a bigger dog) got her favorite spot in my lap first. To add insult to injury, Chewie (who does not give up toys without a struggle) was chewing on Peanut's favorite toy, a small stuffed fox that she likes to use as a pillow. Peanut loves that fox - once we lie down and it is clear to her we are going to sleep, she unfailingly goes out into the darkness of our home and brings the fox back to bed. If it is left outside but visible through the sliding glass door, she will bark until we come open the door for her.

But last night no such luck. Peanut sat on the edge of the bed, and wouldn't even come when we called her. Looking back, I think she was planning something all along.

We were watching TV before going to sleep, and a commercial came on where someone rings a doorbell. Peanut must have thought - 'Here's my chance.' after a very brief delay, she sat bolt upright and let out a bark. All the other dogs perked up. She barked again, and leaped down her doggie stairs from the bed onto the floor, and charged towards the front door, barking like crazy. All the other dogs likewise went into a barking frenzy and launched themselves out of the bedroom, following her.

The only thing is, Peanut must have turned right around after they passed her. Less than two seconds later, she climbed back up into bed, with the fox in her mouth, and settled into her favorite, and now vacant, spot in my lap. She was already curled up with the fox under her head by the time the other dogs filtered back in half a minute later.

A coincidence? Dogs always react to the doorbell sound by charging the front door? That same commercial came on two more times, and a doorbell rang twice on the show we were watching. Peanut was clearly still awake, but didn't budge again. Didn't even turn an ear or raise her head. After all, what did she need another diversion for?

I think that dog might be quite a bit smarter than we give her credit for.

We feel tremendous love for our dogs, and our dogs sure seem to love us. But is a dog really capable of emotions? Or are we just projecting our own love onto our dogs?

Scientists avoid the subject because part of what sets humans apart from the animals is our ability to experience feelings. To say that animals actually have feelings, in the same way we do, would change everything – perhaps disrupt our entire position and standing in the animal kingdom.

However, any dog owner knows that dogs love completely and have a greater capacity for love than most people. If one were to describe the main characteristics of a dog, they would have to be:

-strong affection

-warm attachment

-unselfish loyalty and benevolent concern for others

Wait a minute – those are the Merriam-Webster Dictionary definitions of love. Probably why the author of Dogs Never Lie About Love, Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson writes, “dogs are love.” So there isn’t a question of whether dogs love, the mystery is how they have such an enormous capacity for it. Dogs who are neglected or abused still show love for their human and wag their tails in hope of a little affection.

Dogs Give Unconditional Love

Dogs taken from abusive situations hold no grudges toward the human race. A half an ounce of kindness from a new person results in an abundance of affection from the formerly mistreated dog. Humans rarely have the capacity to so completely forgive and love under those circumstances.

Probably the biggest reason the dog has become man’s best friend is because we know that when it comes to love, a dog can always outdo us. The highest form of love, agape love, which is completely unconditional, is something that people often have to work at or grow into. Agape love seems to come naturally between parent and child, but it’s more difficult between husband and wife, and harder still between friends. To love someone regardless of what wrongs they have done you is very difficult for humans.

A dog, however, is born with an endless capacity for unconditional love, and doesn’t even have to work at it. You can be a complete grouch, ignore your dog, and refuse him your love. When you decide you’re ready to be sociable again, your dog doesn’t pay you back by ignoring you too. He’s just happy you’re there. More amazing still, is that the love that dogs and owners feel for each other lasts a lifetime. This is the ideal love humans strive for, but often fail at.

As Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson so beautifully writes in Dogs Never Lie About Love, “Learning to know somebody intimately is often the beginnings of dislike, sometimes even of contempt. Among humans, love often does not survive a growing acquaintance, but in a dog, love seems to grow with acquaintance, to get stronger, deeper. Even when fully acquainted with all our weaknesses, our treachery, our unkindness, the dog seems to love strongly – and this dog love is returned by most humans. We, too, seem to love our dogs the more we get to know them. The bond grows between us and our dogs.”

This is why we need dogs. They do something for us that rarely a human companion can do. No matter how much you mess up your life, or how much wrong you do, no matter how many mistakes you make or how often you make them, regardless of your looks, income or social standing, your dog never judges you. He always thinks you are wonderful and loves you with all his heart.

Doggy Joke

A Veterinarian was sick and went to see the doctor.
The doctor asked him all the usual questions about symptoms etc., when he interrupted him: "Hey look, I am a Vet - *I* don't need to ask my patients all these questions. I can tell what is wrong just by looking." He added, "Why can't you?"

The doctor nodded, stood back, looked him up and down, quickly wrote out a prescription, handed it to him, and said, "There you are. ...Of course, if *that* does not work, we'll have to have you put down."

Hard decisions

Cookie, our second child

This is Cookie a toy fox terrier. She is spending the whole month with Peanut :)
In the beginning she was a bit shy but now she is "running the pack" and bossing around other doggies.
I assume she got her confidence because she thinks it is her home now. She loves to go outside and sniffle around the yard and patio. It is very hot in June, so we only visit the yard for a short pee break and sniffle time but she just want to stay a little longer until I bribe her with a small cookie to come inside.
She also likes to cuddle with us on the sofa. I think she will be happy when she see her family again after one month. We will miss you Cookie.

Minnie is looking for a home

Minnie was born in Spain in January 1999, she was "saved" together his her brother as the other puppies were not as lucky as Minnie.

She grew up with my oldest 3 kids, who were always surrounded by their friends, so she is quite familiar and use to children. Minnie is a quick learner, she obeys all orders (in English). Minnie is a great companion, she loves to stay around people, on the other hand she does not like taking baths (even though she behaves very well during the bath) and she is very afraid of thunderstorms. She has no pre-existing medical conditions. She takes a daily supplement for the joints as this breed develops some arthritis in the joints.

Few years ago we moved back to the US, and since then she was leaving in an apartment (not the best place for a dog of this kind). Two years ago we got our youngest daughter, who unfortunately has asthma, consequently she cannot be around animals. During these 2 years Minnie has stayed with the older brother and sisters but all of them had moved abroad for professional reasons and Minnie moved with my mother in law, in a tiny apartment, as she cannot stay at home due to the above mentioned situation. As you can appreciate this is not the best life style we can provide to our loved dog

With the biggest pain in our heart we have no other option other than find a suitable, caring and capable family to adopt Minnie.

Candy's story with Cosmo - We need a home for this sweet dog, Cosmo is really a special dog to me

Candy's story:
It's a long drawn out story but here it goes. Me, my boyfriend and his little girl are are taking the next step and are moving in together. Here's my saga….about 5 years ago I ended a long term relationship with my fiance and my dog of 15 years died. Being sad and lonely ( and basically not thinking of ever wanting to have a relationship again), I went to the Humane Society and looked to adopt a dog that needed love (my love of course1), and found Cosmo (picture here). Cosmo was VERY loving, cute, already housebroken, and knew a few commands (sit, paw, etc…). Took Cosmo home and we started our life together (perfect story right?) well the one thing they neglected to tell me was Cosmo didn't dig other animals ( AT ALL!)), well I didn't care cause she was the only one for me, I didn't have any other pets so what!! (till now!). My boyfriend has 3 dogs and 2 cats. Cosmo hates them all. We have tried everything to have them get along, fact is she just don't like them. So I am looking for someone who has some extra love or needs some extra love, to give Cosmo a good home. There's a lot more to the story and if you are really interested in Cosmo I'll tell you….but if your not…don't ask for details cause it's breaking my heart to have to do this. Thanks for listening!!

Fluffy McScratch - Darwin

Darwin, or " Fluffy McScratch " as Daddy calls him. Darwin just loves to scratch my Mommy's arm when he needs attention or just too exited to see her. He is a very active and super smart dog. Darwin also arrives from more than an hour away from Hollywood. Darwin once saved Charlotte, his mom life by waking her up when she forget to turn off the car engine in the garage and the house was filling up with carbon dioxide.
Darwin loves to be brushed, and when he is done with brushing he looks all fluffed up.

Sasha, my old girlfriend

This is Sasha, my old very gentle buddy. Sasha is from Hollywood and Mommy is taking care of here for about 5 years now. She is a real sweet dog. She likes to cuddle with us on the bed or just hang out on the sofa. When the weather is bad, my Daddy builds a tent under the table where Sasha likes to hide. Sasha is a hurricane rescue dog and she really afraid of thunderstorms.
